This 2 minute video is a great example of what a difference a little fun makes in our desire to do things, even things we know we “should” do (like exercise) and things we intend to do (like learn a new skill).
Inserting a little fun helps create playspace which entices us to engage in activities we might otherwise avoid/put off, and it energizes us and leaves us more open to new ideas, perspectives, and generally more connected to our fellow humans.
What if we spent a little more time thinking about ways to make key aspects of organizational life more fun?

This is a great experiment to witness! How fun to see the impact, not only of how many more people who chose to take the stairs because it was fun, but also how much happier they looked when they got to the top of the stairs. Imagine our world if we could apply this principle in all of our workplaces, homes, schools, and institutions. A while back I was trying to find little ways to work out each day since I could never seem to find/create the time to fit in a full workout on a regular basis. One of my solutions was to take the stairs to work, rather than the elevator. How much more fun that will be for me imagining the piano keys on the stairs next time. In fact, I might even have to hum a tune during my next trek up stairs just because of this reminder to make the mundane a bit more fun.
