Like Michelle, I find this a really lovely, intimate reflection, P -- and it makes me think about my knee jerk response to edit the question "do we make a difference?" to "how do we make a difference?" I want so much to assume that we do that I want the grammar to reflect that -- and yet, I ask myself this question all the time. Do we? How? Where? When? A lovely, lovely reminder about presence. I needed this. Thank you. xxc

This is such a beautiful, profound and poignant glimpse into your journey, Pamela, and I thank you for sharing such an intimate reflection. This reminds me that I too, can flounder on occasion not knowing what difference I make, or even if I make a difference. I hear this sentiment all around, from friends and colleagues, so I know I am not the only one who thinks it. What is so damaging about getting stuck in wondering if we make a difference or the feeling that we don't make a difference is that it breeds disengagement, "stuckness" and apathy. Why it is so important for each of us to find our own personal ways to get back to knowing that we make a difference is that it can give us playful energy, peace and hope. It will sustain us to carry on our play and our work, and may the two be intertwined. So with that I want to encourage all of us to tell someone who has made or is making a difference in our lives how much they mean to us. It will bring joy, energy and passion to both of your lives. And can’t we all use more of that?!
